How to configure Tor and use it with your web browser
The configuration panel of Vidalia allows you to select several options:
- launch Tor when Vidalia is running
- launch Vidalia on system startup
- set up Tor as a server (off by default)
- desired language for Vidalia tool
- control port for Tor
- alternate Tor configuration file
- style of the configuration panel
If you don't need or don't want to change any of these options and just surf with Tor with the default settings you can skip this part of the tutorial and read on "how to use Tor with your web browser".
Right click on the Vidalia (onion) icon and click "configure".
Depending on whether you'd like to run Tor once Vidalia is running and/or if you want Vidalia to be launched at system startup, check the appropriate boxes in the general tab. If you don't want to use Tor as a server, leave relay traffic for the Tor network in the server tab unchecked.
